ALAMOSA — A 23-year-old woman pleaded guilty Thursday to assault in the July stabbing of another Alamosa woman.
Sasha Chacon pleaded to first-degree assault in the heat of passion and in exchange prosecutors dropped five counts, including second-degree attempted murder.
Authorities had accused Chacon of stabbing Alice Trujillo, then 39, outside the victim's home in the 900 block of Fifth Street.
The affidavit for Chacon's arrest said Trujillo had given a ride to a man who was in a relationship with Chacon.
While the two were sitting in the vehicle, Chacon threw open the door and assaulted Trujillo.
Trujillo suffered five stab wounds to her chest, neck and hands.
Chacon's sentencing hearing is set for April 8.
